A place-based mobile AR guide to five important fortifications across Aitoloakarnania, with history and nearby-site discovery.
Project overview
The experience introduces visitors to the castles of Nafpaktos and Vonitsa, Aktio, Ancient Pleuron and Antirrio Fortress. Each location becomes part of a connected regional journey rather than an isolated historical stop.
Approach
The application combines augmented reality with accessible information about each archaeological site. Interaction, visual hierarchy and spatial presentation support exploration without competing with the physical monuments.
Experience
Location-aware discovery helps users find nearby sites and organise a future visit. The app works both as an introduction before travelling and as a richer interpretive layer while exploring Aitoloakarnania.
